First blog entry-excited about some new things coming my way!
Next month, I will be working with some students from San Diego High School in San Diego, Texas for Gilly McNeill! I am so excited about this. These students are giving me the opportunity to push myself further as a writer. Their imput will give me exactly what I need to help get my book in order. I am very grateful to Connie Alvarado (Mrs. Alvy) and for B.J. Alaniz for their help in this matter.

Just a quick comment on some recommended movie watching: Alice in Wonderland was a wonderful movie. I took my kids to see it today and they enjoyed themselves and were delighted with the special effects! I can't wait for you all to check it out...it really was mesmerizing.

On a personal note: Recently, I have been spending time discussing my heritage. I am very proud to be a Hispanic American and I always find a place in my books for us. Whether it be the main character, or just a small one, there is always a place in my books for us. As a writer, I feel it is important to include a piece of yourself in whatever story you have begun. In this case, my heritage is an important aspect of my writing (hence Stacy Garcia). We are lucky people to have such a rich and vibrant culture. But, as per my discussions with a friend, I realized how much the newer generations don't actually know about the struggles the Hispanics faced before we were born. My recommendation is to research your heritage; be it Hispanic, Italian, African-American or whatever heritage you belong to. You will find a wealth of information about who you are.

Many things happening this summer! My next project, Tim Fralik: The Hard Way is already under way. I'm very excited about this. Working on polishing up other projects. Writing is wonderful. A part of myself that has existed for me since I was a girl. I love putting my feelings out on paper, letting the words flow like a river, giving me the outlet that I need to escape the regular world for a while. I hope that others who have the same love for the craft find the same peace I have when my fingertips touch each key of the keyboard. There is something magical about the written word. The love I have for reading and writing is an existential part of my life. And I am happy that I can share it with you.
